## 2026-09-18: memory foundations before implementation [#2026-09-18-memory-foundations-before-implementation]

## 2026-09-18: visual guides to agent design choices [#2026-09-18-visual-guides-to-agent-design-choices]

Expanded the guides to diagnosing failures, coordinating agents, and combining models. Added six generated teaching illustrations, industrial examples, explicit handoffs, and comparisons based on complete task outcomes and cost. Examples are illustrative designs rather than measured deployments.

## 2026-09-18: intelligence and memory as enterprise pillars [#2026-09-18-intelligence-and-memory-as-enterprise-pillars]

Reframed the two sections around appropriate agent capability, full business cost, and traceable evidence for decisions. Added a generated visual tour of text, image, video, audio, geospatial, and time-series representations, followed by memory organization and decision records. The spatial illustrations are conceptual, not measured embeddings. Existing technical articles remain available.

## 2026-09-18: explain the problem before the method [#2026-09-18-explain-the-problem-before-the-method]

Reframed the Intelligence ladder and Knowledge & memory entrances around an illustrative pump investigation. Added opening problem diagrams, a failure-to-intervention map, memory comparisons, and a dated repair example. Memory articles now explain the tempting starting approach, the failure it can cause, and why the design choices matter. Existing technical depth and source links remain.

## September 2026 revision [#september-2026-revision]

* Added separate starting points for business readers and architects, with six shared sections.
* Added industrial and business use cases, including safety coaching, production measurement, vegetation inspection, compliance evidence, systemic audit issues, water operations, and commercial growth.
* Made the fourteen architecture layers explorable and added an inspection walkthrough and software-interface guidance.
* Replaced slide-based memory explanations with articles and illustrations. Added visual, geospatial, and time-series representations, combining evidence, changing facts, and memory permissions.
* Simplified the Intelligence ladder and replaced its banking examples with utilities and mining scenarios.
* Added research entrances for experiments, open questions, changed advice, and external industrial examples.
* Updated the installable skills to include the new guidance.

## Earlier research and guide development [#earlier-research-and-guide-development]

The guide developed its reference architecture, enterprise layers, technology decisions, and department designs during August 2026. Retrieval experiments added findings about source coverage, varied retrieval, and unsupported generated content. Some initial findings were withdrawn after stronger comparisons.

The memory articles added a comparison of memory designs, public benchmark methods, long-context limits, and reported measurements. Those articles retain their evidence dates and limitations.
