A search finds an hour of video labelled "possible unsafe activity". That is a lead, but the reviewer still needs the seconds that support the claim, the surrounding context, and the applicable procedure. A saved description alone cannot provide all of that.

<TeachingIllustration src="/images/memory/media-event-v1.webp" title="Find the event, then check what happened" alt="A recording is narrowed to a relevant interval with surrounding context. Video frames, audio, and transcript align with source, time, location, and uncertainty. Generated coaching remains separate from original incident evidence." caption="Teaching illustration. The example is a proposed design, not a measured deployment." />

## Search and verification need different information [#search-and-verification-need-different-information]

An embedding or generated description can help discover a recording. The original clip supports inspection of the event. Retain its source, time interval, scene or asset identity, processing version, and known uncertainty. Do the same for a photograph or audio excerpt.

A transcript helps find spoken words but may omit tone, background sounds, or visual context. Keep it linked to the recording and avoid treating uncertain speaker identity as confirmed.

## Build an event record [#build-an-event-record]

Attach the relevant interval and enough context before and after it to judge the claim. Distinguish an observation from its interpretation: "person visible near vehicle" and "person violated the exclusion rule" require different support.

This event record can become part of [episodic memory](/memory/memory-types). Its images and audio are information forms, while its episodic role is to preserve what happened. That distinction keeps the memory design understandable.

## Check before creating an action [#check-before-creating-an-action]

For safety coaching, a reviewer should see the evidence and the relevant procedure. Verify identity through the approved process before addressing a person. A generated coaching video is educational output; it must not be filed as footage of the incident.

## Test both finding and locating [#test-both-finding-and-locating]

Measure whether search discovers the right recording and whether it identifies the right interval. Include darkness, occlusion, background noise, unusual scenes, and events that should not trigger a finding. Compare with the existing detector or manual review process.

NVIDIA's [video-search blueprint](https://build.nvidia.com/nvidia/video-search-and-summarization/blueprintcard) and [Roboflow Workflows](https://docs.roboflow.com/workflows) provide vendor examples of composing visual processing. Reviewed 18 September 2026. Their documentation does not validate the proposed safety outcome.
